In this episode of “The Fast,” Emmy Award winner Julianne Hough and I discuss her championship turns on "Dancing with Stars" and films such as "Footloose" and "Rock of Ages." We also explore her latest wellness mission. For the past six years, Julianne has worked with Yale and Harvard doctors, neuroscientists, and trauma therapists to support the efficacy behind her latest work – KINRGY. A wellness company with a mission to empower authentic self-expression through dance, movement, energy work and breathwork to help create new neuropathways in our brains and bring us to a place of balance and grounding in our lives. From studying dance in London and living in Russia at the age of nine; to how she has learned to draw boundaries in her life, she says, "I'm happy to give, but you can't have everything.”

Episode 1:

In this first episode of “The Fast,” host Patrick Huey and Susana Belen, the founder of We Care Spa - a healing and wellness retreat in the healing deserts of the Coachella Valley in Southern California - explore Susana's personal experiences and what led her to establish the retreat in the early 80's. We reflect on how her business and impact on peoples' lives has grown over the past four decades, and why some of the top people in business and entertainment find a place of solitude and comfort within the safety and seclusion of the We Care Spa program.

Episode 2:

In this episode of “The Fast,” Cyndie Spiegel and I discuss her new bestselling book “Microjoys: Finding Hope Especially When Life Is Not Ok.”  In this powerful narrative of personal essays, recipes, and remembrances from her life, Cyndie uses the loss and the grief from the most difficult year of her life to teach us to lean into the areas of conflict, controversy, and discomfort in our own lives. Only then can we truly learn to surrender and accept life simply for what it is. Then we can find the joy, even within some of life’s greatest heartbreaks and disappointments.

Episode 3:

In this episode of “The Fast,” Ashish Pandya and I discuss his journey to what he calls a Life in Rhythm. Where we move past today's science of strict analysis and move into Ayurveda (the science of life) that is about a synthesis that brings people and situations together in harmony. In harmony we find wisdom, and the natural, human state of love. Our conversation celebrates of the diversity of creation, the joy of seeking and finding God in ourselves and in those arounds us, and having the courage to move past our our egos to give the gift of compassion to ourselves and to those who have wronged us.

Episode 4:

In this episode of "The Fast," Jena Covello and I discuss how her life changed at the of 23 when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis after a decade of suffering from profound physical pain, having five unsuccessful surgeries, and countless differing opinions on what was the source of her pain. The diagnosis led her to seek out the help of a holistic practitioner, and take ownership of her health, her healing, and her life. At times controversial, Jena is unapologetically herself, using her experiences in the healthcare system to encourage us all to read more, learn more, question more. Her successful skincare line Agent Nateur embodies her commitment to using healthy, sustainable ingredients and practices and living an examined life with eyes wide opened.

Episode 5:

In this episode of The Fast,” Amra Hajdarevic and I discuss her journey from Bosnian refugee (teaching herself how to count in English on the plane to America) to the founding of Terra & Co. A holistic oral care line she built with her sister that is revolutionizing how we take care of our oral microbiome. Terra & Co. is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise company based in California. They not only support other women entrepreneurs, but also low-income and homeless women in need. As war refugees, they know firsthand about receiving aid which is why they donate funds and oral care essentials to organizations like the Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Center. This makes us smile!

Episode 6:

In this episode of The Fast,” Dave Rossi and I discuss what led him to internal happiness. He says, “The standard that everybody measured happiness on where I came from was things, and possessions, and things we collect. The hallmarks that we cross off of a list we have. Those are great things to have. Who wouldn’t want a nice house, a nice car? But they can’t actually mean anything more than just that.  They can’t be the de facto reason for why I am happy or why I am not happy. Happiness is internal.” To reach this realization, Dave had to lose it all. But in the loss he found his life.

Episode 7:

In this episode of The Fast,” Ben Nemtin and I go deep into the question, “If nothing was impossible, what would you do?” As star of the MTV series The Buried Life and co-author of the New York Times bestselling book “What Do You Want to do Before You Die,” Ben has been asking this question most of his life. His answers came from his own journey with crippling depression. How he found his way out of that dark time became the roadmap for a life of following the his dreams and helping others along the way follow theirs. Ben encourages us all to live authentically and lean hard into who we truly are.
